What the first visit costs, and what happens in it.
Published because the question everybody wants to ask on the phone is the price, and most practices make you ask twice.

If you have insurance we file it for you. Before we start anything past the exam, we will tell you what your plan is going to leave you paying, and if the number is worse than you expected you can say no and only owe us for the visit.
What the first hour actually looks like
You fill in one page at the front, not six. We take x-rays, which is about four minutes. Then the hygienist cleans, which is most of the hour, and Dr. Pryor comes in at the end and tells you what she saw.
If there is a problem, you will see the photograph of it on the screen beside you. We will tell you whether it needs doing now, needs doing this year, or just needs watching, and we will tell you which of those three it is without being asked.
If it has been a long time
It does not matter. It genuinely does not. A gap of eleven years is a normal Tuesday here and nobody is going to remark on it. If the reason for the gap is that you are frightened of dentists, write that in the box on the booking form and we will plan the visit around it.
Insurance we file directly
Delta Dental, BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama, Cigna, MetLife, Aetna, and Guardian. If yours is not on that list we will still give you the paperwork to file it yourself, and we will tell you before the appointment rather than after it.
What we do not do
No orthodontics, no implant surgery, no sedation past nitrous. We will refer you for those, to somebody we would send our own families to, and we will make the call while you are still in the chair rather than handing you a name on a card.
